The Precision Genomics Collaboratory (PGC) is excited to announce a new collaboration with the Data+ Initiative to fund a summer project for undergraduate students.
Data+ is a 10-week summer research experience that welcomes Duke undergraduates interested in exploring new data-driven approaches to interdisciplinary challenges. Students join small project teams, collaborating alongside other teams in a communal environment. They learn how to marshal, analyze, and visualize data while gaining broad exposure to the modern world of data science.
Faculty are invited to submit project proposals now through November 1.
Past projects include:
- Applying and extending custom analytics solutions to understand and predict microbial population growth
“Modeling Microbial Growth to Understand Pathogenesis and Biological Resilience” - Developing methods to investigate the courses of complex diseases through electronic health records
“Understanding the Course of Disease via Registration on Electronic Health Records Data” - Improving the memory efficiency of analytic pipelines and adding capacity to ingest different types of data with wearable devices to predict and diagnose COVID-19 and influenza
“CovIdentify”
Data+ will run from Tuesday, May 30, 2023 – Friday, August 4, 2023.
