GIM Assistant Professor of Medicine, Suchita Shah Sata, MD, SFHM, was selected for the Senior Fellows Class of 2021 by the Society for Hospital Medicine (SHM). Those who have achieved this designation have a proven track record of promoting excellence, innovation and improving the quality of patient care in hospital medicine.
Dr. Sata is a clinician educator hospitalist at Duke University Hospital. Her interests are in quality improvement work around high-value, cost-conscious care, particularly in leading educational efforts on this for our learners. She has also led the local triangle area SHM chapter.
"DUHS hospitalists benefit greatly from engagement with SHM, with many of us presenting nationally both in posters and in workshops, as well as local involvement," says Sata. Dr. Sata is an advocate for equity in academic medicine and is the Trainee Liaison for the Department's Program for Women in Internal Medicine (PWIM) and former Interim Chair of PWIM.
