Save the date 2/14/13: Lecture on 'the hidden biases of good people'

Mahzarin R. Banaji, PhD, Richard Clarke Cabot Professor of Social Ethics in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University, will deliver a presentation, "Blindspot: The Hidden Biases of Good People," on Thurs., Feb. 14 from 2-4 p.m. in Reynolds Auditorium. Dr. Banaji will discuss unconscious bias, designed as a self-contained educational experience based on the most recent scientific evidence about the human brain and mind. Her research is on the unconscious nature of assessments of self and other humans. Well-known for her work on "implicit association," Banaji studies unconscious thinking and feeling as they unfold in social context. She explores the implications of her work for questions of individual responsibility and social justice in democratic societies. Banaji is known for providing a highly engaging and insightful workshop, grounded in research and focused on improving organizational practices.
