This week, the Department of Medicine kicks off its search for a Chief of the Division of Cardiology.
Cardiology, with 114 regular rank faculty members, is the largest of our divisions. It drives a substantial portion of the health system's revenues, trains residents and fellows who go onto successful careers in heart care, and stands as a renowned leader in cardiovascular research. Accordingly, the Chief of Cardiology will have a large and important role within the Department, the School of Medicine and the Health System.
With guidance from Chancellor Dzau and Dean Andrews, Mary Klotman, MD, chair of the department, impaneled a committee to coordinate this search, and charged them with identifying and bringing forward candidates with outstanding administrative and management skills, vision for the clinical and research missions of the division, and commitment to the education and training of both housestaff and faculty.
Thomas Coffman, MD, chief of the Division of Nephrology and senior vice chair for academic affairs, is chairing the committee, and a list of faculty members and School of Medicine leaders who will participate on this committee is included below.

Once the committee identifies the top group of candidates, those candidates will be invited for formal interviews by the search committee and discussions with individuals across the Medical Center including members of the Cardiology faculty, and to make public presentations at Cardiology Grand Rounds or other similar venues.
