Laurie Snyder, MD, associate professor of medicine (Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine), has agreed to serve as Medical Director of the Department of Medicine Clinical Research Unit, effective March 1.
Dr. Snyder takes over from Susanna Naggie, MD, associate professor of medicine (Infectious Diseases), who has accepted the role of Associate Dean for Clinical Research Initiatives and Regulatory Affairs in the School of Medicine.
As CRU Medical Director, Snyder will be responsible for the oversight of Departmental IRB protocol review and DOM staffing for IRB review boards as well as core services to DOM faculty regarding human subjects research. She also will ensure the appropriate review of the scientific merit of trials and will provide guidance to investigators for the development and execution of credible financial plans.
Snyder will be assisted by Sara Patillo, CRU Associate Director, and Elaine Dowdy, Research Practice Manager.
