GIM Medical Instructor, Jennifer St. Clair Russell, PhD, presented at the Duke Nephrology Grand Rounds on Friday, September 29. Her presentation, "A Peer-to-Peer Program for Dialysis Patients" outlined the complexities of Kidney Disease in the United States and highlighted her peer mentoring research project called Peer Up!. This program was put in to place to help determine the effectiveness of peer mentoring among patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and to evaluate if peer mentoring could reduce costly and unnecessary hospitalizations through improved self-management.
