TEDMED to be simulcast to Duke

By ajz6@dhe.duke.edu
The annual TEDMED conference – a "grand gathering" of leaders from all sectors of society who come together to explore the promise of technology and the potential of human achievement – will take place in Washington, D.C., April 10-13, 2012. This unique event combines dazzling celebration, high-powered learning and unforgettable theater. TEDMED is the only place where a Nobel Prize winning neurobiologist has a conversation with a four-star general… where an opera singer (with a double lung transplant) chats with a NASA space physician… and where a ballet dancer talks to an exoskeleton designer. Duke's Miguel Nicolelis, MD, PhD, Anne W. Deane Professor Professor of Neurobiology, is scheduled to be a speaker. The Duke School of Medicine and the AAMC will sponsor a live simulcast of TEDMED in various venues on the Duke University Medical Center campus, as well as at Duke Raleigh Hospital and University Tower. The high-definition broadcast is sent to designated lecture halls here at Duke and viewers will have the opportunity to interact with speakers in Washington, D.C. via the TEDMED smartphone app (iPhone and Android, available soon). Unfortunately, the simulcast is not available for desktop viewing. This event is open to anyone in the Duke community.
