The U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings for 2011-2012 are out today, and Duke University Medical Center is #9 on the honor roll, (up from #10 last year).
Department of Medicine subspecialties did well, with nearly all improving at least one spot on the rankings:
- Cancer – #11 (up from #12 in 2010)
- Cardiology & Heart Surgery – #7 (up from #9 last year)
- Diabetes & Endocrinology – #26 (up from #27 last year)
- Gastroenterology – #13 (up from #18 last year)
- Geriatrics – #5 (up from #6 last year)
- Nephrology – #9 (up from #12 last year)
- Neurology & Neurosurgery – #8 (up from #11 last year)
- Pulmonology – #5 (up from #6 last year)
- Rheumatology – #12 (same as last year)
