We are proud to announce Courtney Van Houtven, PhD, has been promoted to Full Professor!
Dr. Van Houtven joined the Division of General Internal Medicine and the Durham VA Center for Health Services Research in 2003. Over the past 13 years, she has rapidly established herself as an international expert in comparative effectiveness and econometric methods. In her research, she has investigated the utilization, costs, and quality of informal and long-term care, the effects of informal care on caregivers, and strategies for supporting caregivers to achieve improve health outcomes. She has established an outstanding track record as a leader in her field, evidenced through her publication of over 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts in highly prestigious journals and her continuous external grant funding. She has garnered over $9.0 million dollars in research grant awards as Principal Investigator. She has also conducted over 50 invited presentations to both national and international offices. She has collaborated with numerous investigators across the globe throughout her career.
