Welcome new GIM faculty

This month the Division of General Internal Medicine is pleased to announce additions of three new faculty members.Two are biostatisticians and one joins the ambulatory medicine service at the Durham VA Medical Center.

Brad Hammill, DrPH, MS
Dr. Hammill, a longtime collaborator with our researchers, joins our DCRI faculty as a Senior Biostatistician. His primary focus in research covers areas of health policy, health services research, outcomes, and pharmacoepidemiology.

Valerie Smith, DrPH
Dr. Smith joins our HSR&D researchers as a biostatistician. Last year she received the DrPH degree from UNC. She has previous experience at Stanford where she earned the MS advanced degree in statistics.

Sophia Califano, MD, MPH
Dr. Califano graduated from medical school at Brown University and trained in medicine at the University of Michigan. She comes to us from UNC where she earned the MPH degree and pursued training as a resident in Preventive Medicine and a fellow in Infectious Diseases.  Dr. Califano is working now at the Durham VA Medical Center on the Ambulatory Service as a clinician-educator.
