Welcome new GIM members

We are proud to welcome 2 new faculty and one new staff member to the division: 

NEW FACULTY

Rami I. Abdo, MD (pictured left)
Dr. Adbo, a general medicine hospitalist for Duke Regional Hospital since 2009, is currently transitioning to include an appointment as Assistant Professor of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut and completed his internal medicine residency followed by a chief resident year at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita, where he was also a Clinical Assistant Professor for 7 years following his training. 

Preeshini Fernando, MBBS (pictured right) 
Dr. Fernando comes to us from Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts where she was a hospitalist for over 4 years. She received her MBBS degree from Kasturba Medical College in India followed by an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Urbana. She is a hospitalist at Duke University Hospital.

NEW STAFF 

Erin Burks (pictured center) is a Clinical Research Coordinator. She will be supporting several studies in the Division of General Internal Medicine. Prior to joining Duke, Erin was a Research Assistant at UNC-Chapel Hill working to improve healthcare service delivery among family planning providers. She received her undergraduate degree in Global Studies and graduate degree in Public Health from UNC Chapel Hill. Outside of work, she enjoys creating artwork and spending time out-of-doors.
