Daniella Zipkin, MD, GIM Associate Professor of Medicine, presented an online grand rounds for Mt Sinai Queens Hospital on Wednesday, October 26. Her presentation was entitled, "Interpretation of Non-Inferiority Trials: Implications for Patient Care". Throughout the presentation, Dr. Zipkin spoke about the ways in which non-inferiority trials differ from traditional trials, the non-inferiority margin, the validity of a non-inferiority trial, and how to apply results to patients.
This is no new topic for Dr. Zipkin. She often presents on this subject at the annual Duke Teaching and Leading Evidence Based Practice (EBP) workshop and has published on Evidence-Based Medicine and the importance of communicating probabilistic information clearly so patients can understand. She is also publishing a book, Teaching Evidence-Based Medicine: A Toolkit for Educators, which is available for preorder and will publish in the spring of 2023.
Zipkin has won a number of awards for her teaching and clinical work at Duke. She is also a member of the SGIM Education Committee and Career Working Group, as well as the former Chair of the Evidence-Based Medicine Task Force.
