What are your career goals? I am interested in a career in gastroenterology. I’m especially drawn to how gastrointestinal diseases often mirror broader disparities in access to care, nutrition, preventive screening, and chronic disease management. The field offers the opportunity to engage at multiple levels, from advocating for individual patients to leading population-based screening efforts and advancing public health initiatives. It feels like a field where I can combine my clinical interests with my commitment to addressing disparities in care.

What inspired you to pursue Internal Medicine? My interest in Internal Medicine stems from the profound human connection it fosters.I like that Internal Medicine requires an understanding that patients' lives extend beyond medical complaints to encompass psychosocial needs, language, functional status, economics, race, and access to care.

What were you looking for in a residency program, and why did you ultimately choose Duke? I was looking for a residency program that combined a truly supportive environment with rigorous, well-rounded training to prepare me for the next step in my career. I ultimately chose Duke because it embodied that balance. From the very start of my interview day, I felt genuinely welcomed by everyone I met. It was clear that the faculty were deeply invested not only in residents’ success during training but also in their long-term growth and careers.
