Where did you attend medical school?
University of North Carolina

What other degrees do you hold and from what institutions?
PhD (genetics) - University of North Carolina

What are your career goals?
I plan to become a physician-scientist with a focus on the genetic basis of both common and rare disease. I am interested broadly in the impact of human evolution and population history on the distribution of hereditary disease risk, but am undecided with regard to a clinical subspecialty.

What did you do the summer before intern year?
My wife and I bought a house in Durham and learned to take care of our new baby girl.

"I was looking for residency program with rigorous clinical training in both internal medicine in pediatrics, as well as a strong institutional commitment to research. I found that at Duke without having to move far from home."

About Duke University and Durham

What is the best thing about living in Durham and the Triangle?
The combination of affordable cost of living, easy access to outdoor activities and green spaces, and temperate weather is hard to beat.

Where did you choose to live and why?
My wife and I purchased a townhouse in south Durham close to the Research Triangle Park. We chose that area because it split the distance between our jobs in Chapel Hill and at Duke, respectively.
