Reflections on the Duke Program
What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for rigorous clinical training, strong mentorship and coaching, and research opportunities. Importantly, I wanted to be in a program where people developed meaningful relationships with one another and valued each other as members of one community.
What are the strengths of the Duke Program?
I find it energizing to be in a program where everyone - from the interns to seasoned attendings - is constantly striving to learn and do better. One of the things that makes this possible is that the “Duke Family” is real - everyone is looking out for each other, and the culture is of building one another up and celebrating each other’s successes and growth.
About Duke University and Durham
What is the best thing about living in Durham and the Triangle?
Having moved from New York City, I love how many trails, parks, and green spaces there are to explore in the area. When I’m looking for a change in scenery, we’re within a reasonable radius of both beach and mountains.
What are your interests outside of medicine?
Going to local restaurants and bars, trying new recipes (with varying success), exploring new trails, watching movies, reading good books.
