Fellow Perspective
Tell us briefly about your background before cardiology fellowship?
I majored in biomedical engineering as an undergraduate with a focus in electrical engineering. After graduating early, I spent the better part of a year splitting my time between a computational biology lab and a team designing a smart pedicle probe. During medical school, I spent an extra year in a cardiac imaging research lab identifying MRI features prognostic for arrhythmia development.
What are your career plans in cardiology?
My plans are to pursue a career in clinical electrophysiology.
Why did you choose Duke for your cardiology fellowship training?
I chose Duke for its rigorous clinical training and its extensive catchment area and resultant high volumes of patients and diversity of cardiovascular disease. I was looking for a fellowship that would push me to learn and grow like my residency had done. The faculty is committed to the teaching mission of the hospital and program and are an exceptional source of knowledge and guidance.
What do you enjoy doing in the Triangle area outside of work?
I enjoy tending to my humble vegetable patch
