Fellow Perspective
What are your career goals?
I would like to pursue a career in academic nephrology. I am particularly interested in transplant nephrology, hypertension, and preventative medicine in nephrology.
What were you looking for in a fellowship program?
Because I was entering fellowship as “undifferentiated”, I was looking for a program that would prepare me to be a strong and well-rounded general nephrologist while having the opportunity to explore more subspecialized fields. I wanted to be a part of a dynamic program with educators who love being educators and creating a supportive environment.
Which Scholar pathway will you choose and why?
I will choose the 2 year clinician concentration pathway as it most aligns with my current career goals and also allows for flexibility as I grow more and home in on my interests. I am excited to learn from those who are experts in teaching physiology and hope to seek opportunities to grow as an educator.
What are the strengths of the Duke program?
The Duke Nephrology program is innovative, and I felt my personal and professional growth was valued by the program leadership and my co-fellows from the beginning. Starting a new chapter comes with its own challenges, but I felt confident in taking my first steps as a fellow because I knew an incredible group was walking with me and had my back. There is a palpable excitement to learn and grow together. I am inspired by those I work with every day.
