Career Goals
My goal is to become an exemplary clinician who provides compassionate, evidence-based care to my patients while also serving as a mentor and educator who inspires and guides the next generation of physicians.
What were you looking for in a fellowship program?
I was looking for a fellowship program that would thoroughly equip me for the diverse challenges of clinical practice. It was important to find a program that offered a broad spectrum of clinical experiences, from the “bread-and-butter” cases that form the foundation of rheumatology to the more complex, nuanced cases that require a deep understanding and innovative approaches.
What are the strengths of the Duke Program?
Duke not only provided the clinical exposure I was looking for - but also exceptional faculty. The faculty at Duke are not only experts in their fields but are also deeply committed to teaching and mentorship. Their genuine care for each fellow’s personal and professional development creates a nurturing learning environment that cultivates growth and confidence.
What has surprised you most about Duke?
The administrative & clinical support staff have been a welcome surprise. They’re incredibly resourceful and work tirelessly to support fellows. They are not just part of the team—they are invaluable partners in patient care.
What is the best thing about living in Durham and the Triangle?
Durham has something for everyone. There’s plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and exploring nearby parks and lakes. We also have a pretty great food scene.
What advice would you give to someone looking to move to Durham?
Don’t stress about living close to the medical center. Traffic is minimal, so you can explore housing options a bit further out and still have an easy commute.
What are your interests outside of medicine?
I enjoy running and spoiling my dog, Mango.
