Fellow Perspective
Tell us briefly about your background before cardiology fellowship?
Growing up, I was always passionate about biotechnology. I studied biomedical engineering as an undergraduate and was not thinking about medical school at the time. Graduating from college I was hired by Abbott as a field clinical engineer. In this role, I worked with their cardiac device portfolio and spent my time in the EP lab assisting with pacemaker/ICD implants and operating the electro-anatomical mapping system during ablation procedures. This experience led me to fall in love with the field of cardiology/EP and ultimately pursue a career as a physician.
What are your career plans in cardiology?
I plan to pursue a career as an electrophysiologist, with research and business development interests in the advancement of EP-related biotechnology. I have a particular interest in ablation technology, such as high-density mapping, pulse-field ablation, and the incorporation of artificial intelligence into EGM interpretation.

What do you enjoy doing in the Triangle area outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife and two young daughters. We take advantage of the many hikes and parks in the area, road-trips to the mountains and the beach, and the vibrant food scene in the triangle.
