Reasons why I choose Duke:
- Duke offers numerous research opportunities that align with my interests and career goals. The program encourages you to propose your research ideas and provides immense support for any project you may pursue. Furthermore, the chance to pursue a Master in Clinical Science while on fellowship at Duke was a significant factor in my decision. In addition to strong research training, you will be exposed to an excellent variety of patient populations and diseases that will prepare you to be an outstanding endocrinologist.
- The faculty group is amazing. There is a perfect blend of strong clinicians with highly academic backgrounds who inspire you every day.
- The people, including patients, staff, faculty and fellows, are incredibly welcoming and friendly, creating an environment filled with positivity and warmth. They made me feel like part of a loving family since my interview day!
Happy surprises:
- I was pleasantly surprised by the growing Latino community in the area. We found Spanish masses, supermarkets, and restaurants – all of which made me miss home much less.
- There is minimal traffic, and you can get to malls, attractions, etc., in 10-15 minutes from anywhere. If you live downtown, you will have plenty of opportunities within walking distance.
- For food lovers, this place is perfect – there are plenty of dining options!
- There are numerous social activities organized by the Department of Medicine, providing opportunities to meet other fellows and make new friends.
