Fellow Perspective

Tell us briefly about your background before adult congenital heart disease fellowship?
I completed Pediatric Cardiology fellowship at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where I trained to take care of children with congenital heart disease, as well as gained exposure to adults with congenital heart disease. Knowing that this unique patient population requires specialized cardiac care, I decided to pursue ACHD fellowship so I could provide continuity of care to patients with congenital heart disease throughout their entire life.

What are your career plans in cardiology?
I envision myself practicing both pediatric cardiology and adult congenital heart disease, along with taking care of cardio-obstetric patients. I also hope to use my congenital cardiac MRI reading skills that I have been developing throughout my fellowship.

Why did you choose Duke for your adult congenital heart disease fellowship training?
I chose Duke for ACHD fellowship for the high complexity and high volume of patients that are seen here. I also loved the people I met throughout my interview process, and immediately felt the comradery within the Duke Heart Center.

What do you enjoy doing in the Triangle area outside of work?
I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family exploring new parks and hiking trails. We also love being near the water- either by the lake or at the coast!
