Why Internal Medicine? I was drawn to a career in internal medicine because it was the specialty where I felt like my curiosity and my desire to love others well through medicine was the most apparent. I had a encounter with a particular patient as a medical student and there I found that internal medicine was the most natural place for me to connect, care and advocate for patients well while also engaging in the medical complexity and curiosity that the specialty offers.

Why Duke? I was looking for a place that was rigorous clinically, had a strong academic environment that celebrated learning and teaching and most importantly a place where there were genuine humans who were themselves, who were goofy and took taking care of patients seriously. Ultimately Duke was the place I found that had the clinical and academic rigor while also having people that seemed to enjoy what they do and did their best to take care of patients well.
