What are your career goals?
I'm interested in pursuing a career in private practice versus a career in academic nephrology.
What were you looking for in a fellowship program?
I wanted a program that offered experiences in the many different areas of expertise in Nephrology including specialized clinics such as glomerulonephritis, peritoneal dialysis, home hemodialysis as well a large academic referral hospital with multitude of pathology and transplant management to become the most well-rounded Nephrologist I could be. I also looked for engaged faculty excited to mentor me through this process.
Which Scholar pathway will you choose and why?
The 2-year clinician concentration pathway to best facilitate my future plans to be a practicing clinical nephrologist.
What are the strengths of the Duke program?
The culture of support from the leadership, starting with our program director, associate program director, and all the faculty. They have shown such an interest in teaching and supporting each of our own individual interests and pursuits within our career path as well as consideration of our lives outside of medicine. I have felt welcomed and part of a family since joining with Duke Nephrology.
