Happy JULY FIRST, fam! Let’s go! Thank you so much to Emily, Bridget, Imani and Lynsey for a fantastic orientation week including a Durham Bulls 9th inning walk-off victory to welcome our newest members of the DukeFam. Big thanks to Amanda, Emory, Komal, Nick and Omar for all chief things this past week as well as we get started on a new and fantastic year. And of course, huge thanks to everyone in the Intern, JAR and SAR classes for getting the clinical work started on such a great note.
This week, we will start our noon conference series with a welcome from the chiefs and a SAR talk from Krunal Amin before taking a short holiday break and resuming next week.

Kudos this week to Garret Johnson and his team at the VA (including attending and IM res alum Dr. McClain) for rolling with an unexpected CPRS lockout, to Clare Anderson for an amazing THML (with cameos by John Demis and Bret Pinsker), to Auston Stiefer from chief alum Dr Jess Regan for his SAR work in the CICU this weekend, to Megan Hansen and Ankit Kayastha from Victor Ayeni for being great MICU JARs, to Bryce Hendren-Santiago from Siven Chinniah for his fantastic first shifts in the CICU, from Shane Clark to Lexi Green and Celyn Bregio for their great work on their first day at the VA, and also to Katelyn Rennyson from Siven for her help in the CICU, and round robin kudos to Reeti Gulati, Sanjana Ravi, Leela Ekambarapu and Meagan Prescott for amazing work on CAD nights!
Kudos to our entire VA teams for managing the transition to the new VA system! You all are incredible at trouble shooting on the fly, giving feedback and of course taking great care of patients.

All trainees at Duke have FREE access to Personal Assistance Services (PAS), which is the faculty/employee assistance program of Duke University. The staff of licensed professionals offer confidential assessment, short-term counseling, and referrals to help resolve a range of personal, work, and family problems. PAS services are available free of charge to Duke faculty and staff, and their immediate family members. An appointment to meet with a PAS counselor may be arranged by calling the PAS office at 919-416-1PAS (919-416-1727), Monday through Friday between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Prioritized GME appts are now available also at 6 pm and 7 pm! For assistance after hours, residents and fellows can call the Blood and Body Fluid Hotline (115 inside DUH, 919-684-1115 outside) for referral to behavioral health resources.
