Let’s go fam! What a great first week of July. The chiefs brought the holiday spirit (check out the ‘gram and the fun pics slack channel!) and everyone did an amazing job taking care of patients and getting the year started!

Kudos this week to Krunal Amin for the first SAR talk of the year (amazing!), to Rachel Zuzul, Juliann Gilchrist, and Ryan Edwards from Dr Heather Shaw for doing a fantastic job on VA NF, to Nivita Sharma from Dr. Cameron Strong for her detailed workup of a patient admitted to his team, to Abbey Driscoll and Larissa Lushniak from Zack Dailey for stepping back and making a critical diagnosis on a patient at the VA, to Zach Creech from Karen Young for heroic July 4thconsultant round-up on a complex patient and back at Karen from Zach for her amazing team leadership, to Isabelle and Krunal from Courtney Welch for great work in the MICU. to Maison Furley from Auston Steifer for being the favorite doc at DRH of all the patients, to Siven Chinniah from Chris Norberg for his CICU JAR support and back at Chris from Siven for crushing it in the CICU,huge Kudos to Chris Norberg and Siven in the CCU overnight last night. They held down the fort in a very busy night and both got several admissions (especially Chris on a solo night in the unit). Both handled it with total professionalism and grace! Super impressed!!

All trainees at Duke have FREE access to Personal Assistance Services (PAS), which is the faculty/employee assistance program of Duke University. The staff of licensed professionals offer confidential assessment, short-term counseling, and referrals to help resolve a range of personal, work, and family problems. PAS services are available free of charge to Duke faculty and staff, and their immediate family members. An appointment to meet with a PAS counselor may be arranged by calling the PAS office at 919-416-1PAS (919-416-1727), Monday through Friday between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Prioritized GME appts are now available also at 6 pm and 7 pm! For assistance after hours, residents and fellows can call the Blood and Body Fluid Hotline (115 inside DUH, 919-684-1115 outside) for referral to behavioral health resources.
