From the Director
Annnnd it’s the end of May! Lets gear up for the final block of the year. Come support your colleague Emory Buck as she does LEADs conference today. Plus this week we have a ResCo Thirsty Thursday (belated thanks to the GI Division for getting together with residents last week) and a celebration of our SARs on Friday night.
Please stop by the med res library to sign the chief certificates. We will bring them to Grand Rounds on Friday (Dr. Cooney’s State of the Department/Year in Review) so that is another opportunity to sign as well.
For those of you who applying to fellowship, ERAS is going to open next week, with tokens available on June 8th. Any questions, please reach out to me or Dr. Hargett.
Kudos this week to Katelyn Seale from Dr. Matt Sparks for fantastic communication with a family an patient at the VA, to Mark Brahier and Auston Steifer from Emory Buck for excellent work on 9300, and back to Emory Buck from Mark for awesome team leadership, to Londyn Robinson from Gracie Ernstberger for being a fantastic colleague and for great care of the veterans, to Nish Shivakumar from Katie Smith for stellar work as the VA dayfloat, to Chris Luccarelli from Chief Duffy for his work as VTAQ, to the NF crew of Apurva Khedagi, Shivy Chandramouli and Shelief Robbins-Juarez from Katie Smith (and back to Katie from Shivy), to Nicole Dussault from Shannon McGue for helping at the VA overnight, and to Callie Lilley from Alison Smith for CPRS help. A huge thank you and kudos to Shannon Herndon and Emilio Guzman Cisneros for their leadership and hosting of the Narrative Medicine group in their home this year.
This week’s pubmed from the program goes to Andrew Maul, who won a big award in the DEI abstract competition for his oral presentation at the Heart Rhythm Society national meeting. Lots of Duke fam on this team!
