Program Overview

The vision of the Duke Cardiovascular Disease fellowship is to be the premier training program developing future leaders in Cardiovascular Health. Our fellowship is a 3-year ACGME program. The majority of our clinical rotations are completed during years one and two of fellowship. The third year of Cardiovascular Disease fellowship offers flexible training opportunities.

Duke Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Mission Statement

  • Recruit, mentor and develop a diverse group of exemplary physicians who desire to become future clinical, scientific, education and thought leaders in cardiovascular health.
  • Provide an inclusive environment that fosters the acquisition of intellectual acumen, technical and research skills required to interpret, implement and create or validate the evidence that drives prevention, assessment and management of patients with a wide variety of acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions.
  • Ensure program graduates are prepared to become:
    • Independent clinical practitioners who provide evidence guided care as outlined by the ACGME Program Requirements for Residency Education in Cardiovascular Disease, the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American College of Cardiology and/or
    • Early career clinical, basic, or translational research scientists and/or
    • Clinician educators
    • Future mentors
