Under the leadership of Director of Clinical Research Administration Jennifer Hamill, the Medicine CRU Financial Team has demonstrated exceptional administrative performance over the past fiscal year, strengthening financial operations across the unit and enhancing support for clinical research teams. Their work has directly advanced the Department of Medicine’s mission to conduct high-quality, transparent, and well-managed clinical research.

The team oversees all financial aspects of clinical studies, including budget development, contract review, invoicing, payment reconciliation, compliance, and sponsor coordination. Their collaboration and attention to detail ensure timely, accurate, and reliable financial support across the research lifecycle.

A major accomplishment this year was their strong performance during a financial audit. Through a comprehensive cleanup of records, templates, and internal controls, the team improved accuracy, consistency, and documentation standards, resulting in a smooth audit and positive institutional feedback.

Throughout the year, the team maintained consistently high financial performance metrics, including strong quarterly indicators and zero draft invoices — reflecting a commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and timely fund recovery for research programs.

The CRU Financial Practice Managers — Svetlana Ivanova, Gretchen Clark, and Toni Soshnikova — have provided essential leadership across pre- and post-award functions, ensuring alignment between financial agreements and implementation. Their oversight, in close collaboration with Research Administration colleagues, has strengthened budget development, financial review, and study oversight across the department.
