6 reasons to attend SGIM 2018!

The annual meeting for the Society of General Internal Medicine is just around the corner, taking place April 11-14, 2018. Have you registered to attend yet? The standard registration deadline is March 8. Here are 6 reasons why you don't want to miss this year's meeting!

6. Ancillary Sessions

The annual meeting always gives the option to expand your meeting experience by attending an SGIM ancillary session—the pre-courses, tours, learning sessions and certificate programs. Click here for the full list.

5. Location

SGIM always seems to choose great locations to host the annual meeting and this year is no different. The Mile High city of Denver, Colorado, is the spot for SGIM 2018!

4. Socialize

SGIM is a wonderful social and networking event to meet with friends, peers, mentors, and leaders in the field.

3. Duke Presence

As usual, the Duke family will have a large presence at this year's annual meeting. Three of our faculty members will participate in workshops or symposia, and one of our residents was chosen as a presenting author for a plenary session. In addition there are several poster acceptances from our faculty and residents. DGIM eNews will be posting more of the news as it happens!

2. Duke Networking Reception

Because we always have such a great presence at the conference, our Division Chief, Dr. Ebony Boulware, hosts a Duke networking reception. It is an intimate setting with delicious food and beverages so we can chat with colleagues in a quiet and relaxed environment. This year's networking reception will be Thursday, April 12. More information to come.

1. Learning

There is always a wide range of learning topics with sessions dedicated this year to Innovations in Medical Education and to Clinical Practice, to Scientific Abstracts focused on research in medical education and beyond! This year's theme is "Health IT: Empowering General Internists to Lead Digital Innovation". Underscoring the theme's importance is a pre-course entitled "Informatics and HIT in Support of General Internal Medicine, an Overview."

What are you waiting for? Click the button below to register today! If you are attending the meeting, please email GIM Communications Strategist Clare Il'Giovine and let her know!
