The Department of Medicine Minority Recruitment and Retention Committee will host an information session on the Duke CTSA KL2 Program on Wed., Sept. 7, at 5 p.m. in the Medical Center Library Conference Room 212C.
Anyone applying for the upcoming funding cycle or those interested in applying in future years are encouraged to attend.
The featured speaker will be Kimberly S. Johnson, MD, Associate Director of the CTSA KL2 Program. In this session, she will discuss: eligibility requirements for the KL2 program; goals, structure and major components of the KL2 program; application and review process; structured programs to assist you with developing a competitive application.
The Duke CTSA KL2 is a mentored research career development program for junior faculty and fellows transitioning to faculty positions who are conducting clinical and translational research. Scholars are awarded 75% protected effort for 3 years and up to $40,000/year for research and training related expenses. This a wonderful opportunity!
The next round of applications will be due in November 2016 with a July 2017 start date. Two new scholars will be selected. An important goal of the CTSA KL2 is to increase the diversity of the research workforce. The program has committed to supporting at least 50% under-represented minorities with the KL2.
