The Advocacy in Clinical Leadership Track (ACLT), led by Dani Zipkin, had its kickoff for the year with its first two sessions.
Kory Goldsmith, Director of the Legislative Drafting Division, North Carolina General Assembly, gave a great talk on the nuts and bolts of the legislative process in NC as well as resources regarding researching bills of interest.
Our own Larry Greenblatt, Medical Director for the Medicaid Population Health Management Office, spoke twice on Medicaid Transformation. Medicaid managed care programs will launch in July 2021, greatly changing the landscape of public insurance in NC and also carving a path for innovative approaches to care management, addressing social drivers, and value based care.
Over the next several months, residents in the ACLT will continue to learn from experts in policy as well as plan their own platform. The residents will research, develop, and present their ideas to NC General Assembly lawmakers in May, 2021. Doug Heron, Associate Vice President for Duke State Relations, and Katie Stanley, Communications and Outreach Coordinator, will support the groups efforts throughout.
