Two Department of Medicine faculty received Distinguished Awards from the American College of Cardiology during the 2018 Annual Scientific Session in Orlando, Fla.
Thomas Bashore, MD, professor of medicine (Cardiology), has been awarded the 2018 Distinguished Teacher Award from the American College of Cardiology in recognition of his innovative, outstanding teaching characteristics and compassionate qualities.
James E. Tcheng, MD, professor of medicine (Cardiology) and community and family medicine, has been awarded the 2018 Distinguished Service Award from the American College of Cardiology in recognition of his profound contributions to ACC.
Dr. Bashore and Dr. Tcheng are among 19 award recipients from across the country. The Distinguished Awards were established to recognize outstanding individuals making contributions to the cardiovascular profession. Recipients are nominated by their peers and then selected by the American College of Cardiology Awards Committee.
In addition, Jennifer Rymer, MD, MBA, fellow (Cardiovascular Disease), has been awarded the American College of Cardiology/William F. Keating Esq. Endowment Career Development Award to provide financial support for research efforts by outstanding cardiovascular scholars. Dr. Rymer's project is "Understanding Racial Disparities in Invasive Management for Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction and Chronic Kidney Disease."
