Boulware's presentation on NIMHD

In celebration of February being Black History Month, The National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) hosted General Internal Medicine Division Chief, Dr. Ebony Boulware, for their Director's Seminar Series on Thursday, February 4. She presented on the topic "Where Clouds Meet the Ground: Democratizing Health Data to Address Community Health Equity."

During her talk, Boulware reviewed challenges in translating research and health learning into community health improvement, described efforts to inform community health equity through data democratization efforts, and discussed next steps in research.

Dr. Boulware has devoted her career to studying the mechanisms to improve the quality and equity of health care, and health outcomes for patients and populations with chronic diseases, such as hypertension and kidney disease. Her work investigates the influence of attitudinal, social, and environmental contexts on health and health outcomes. As a general internist and clinical epidemiologist, Dr. Boulware’s research empowers families and doctors with knowledge and tools to make healthy decisions and better manage chronic diseases.
