Duke Department of Medicine Celebrates 2026 Match Day, Welcomes Intern Class

The Duke Department of Medicine welcomes its 2026 class of interns to the Internal Medicine, Preliminary Medicine, Medicine-Pediatrics and Medicine-Psychiatry programs.

“This year’s Match brought us an extraordinary group of future physician leaders,” said  Lisa Criscione-Schreiber, MD, MEd, vice chair for Education in the Duke Department of Medicine. “Their dedication to patient care, curiosity for learning and commitment to service reflect the values that define Duke. We are thrilled to welcome them into our community.”

The National Resident Matching Program pairs graduating medical students with residency program across the country each March. Duke’s programs consistently attract applicants with strong records of leadership, research and advocacy. The Duke Internal Medicine Residency matched 42 Categorical, 3 PSTP, 2 Medicine-Psychiatry, 6 Medicine-Pediatrics, 6 Neurology Preliminary, and 5 Preliminary trainees.

“Match Day is one of the most energizing moments of the year,” said  Aimee Zaas, MD,MHS, professor of Medicine, Internal Medicine Residency Program director. “Our new interns bring exceptional talent and a passion for caring for others. We look forward to supporting their growth as they train to become leaders in medicine. Tremendous thanks to our team, the DOM faculty and our residents who helped recruit such an outstanding class.”

The new interns will begin their training at Duke this summer.
