Duke GI fellows to compete in ACG GI Jeopardy finals

On Aug. 16, the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) announced that the Duke Gastroenterology fellows’ scores ranked in the top 5 of the online GI Jeopardy competition.

With this achievement, the group’s chosen representatives, Paul St. Romain, MD and Krista Edelman, MD, will be competing in the final round on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the ACG 2017 Annual Meeting and Postgraduate Course in Orlando, Florida.

The other finalists in the competition include University of California (San Francisco) Medical Center, Indiana University School of Medicine, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine.

GI Jeopardy was introduced by ACG in 2004 to promote friendly competition among GI training programs across the country. The Jeopardy competition consists of 53 questions on a variety of GI diseases and organs. The ACG holds the preliminary rounds online. Whichever teams place in the top 5 will compete in front of a live audience in the finals.

The GI Jeopardy finals consist of two rounds. The Duke GI fellows will complete against the other four finalists in the first round. If victorious in the first round, the fellows will move on to second round to compete against the other two remaining teams.

The winners of the ACG GI Jeopardy will be awarded $1,000 per team member for round trip tickets to the 2018 ACG Annual Meeting and Postgraduate Course in Philadelphia and receive a trophy for the program.
