The School of Medicine Dean's Office alerts faculty to a new RFP for an initiative to provide seed money ($25,000 grants) for new ideas that will involve collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management Udaipur and NGOs located in the Indian State of Rajasthan, eventually leading to applications for outside independent funding. The initial proposal (no longer than 2-3 pages plus CVs) should be submitted by email in a single PDF to michael.case@duke.edu no later than 5pm on 15 October 2012.
Duke University and IIMU have launched a collaborative effort to encourage mutual understanding, engage and mentor junior faculty, foster economic development, and engage civil society. This initiative is led by Anirudh Krishna, PhD, of Duke’s Sanford School of Public Policy and Janat Shah, director of IIMU.
As an important first step in building this collaboration, the Sanford School is soliciting proposals for a second round of small pilot grants. The purpose of these awards is to provide seed money for new ideas that will involve collaboration with IIMU and NGOs located in the Indian State of Rajasthan and eventually lead to applications for outside independent funding.
Located in the central Indian state of Rajasthan, Udaipur (population 550,000) is a popular tourist destination abutted by a rural countryside that is home to some of the poorest people in India. Udaipur is a hub in India for well-regarded NGOs and government organizations working on important aspects of community-based development, including several that have won national and international acclaim.
