Funding opp: SoM Interdisciplinary Colloquia 2016

Don't forget - Deadline for SoM Interdisciplinary Colloquia is July 31, 2016

The School of Medicine is accepting applications for its sixth annual RFP to provide support for interdisciplinary colloquia that bring together basic science, translational and clinical faculty members with common interests in a biomedical problem or area. Interested applicants are encouraged to read about colloquia that have been funded in previous years at http://medschool.duke.edu/research/interdisciplinary-colloquia.

FUNDING: Awards of up to $5,000 will be provided to support each successful proposal.  Funds can be used to cover food, meeting venues, external speakers or other meeting costs.

REQUIREMENTS: Proposals must be submitted by teams representing two or more departments, institutes or centers.  Applicants for funds must be faculty members with primary appointments in a School of Medicine department. Meetings may have any format (e.g., small monthly dinner meetings, larger quarterly meetings, other approaches), but should be designed to bring together faculty members with diverse perspectives. Preference will be given to proposals that articulate a plan to sustain interactions and/or prepare joint grant applications after the initial colloquium supported by the SoM.

PROCESS: Applications/ renewals should be submitted online using the link below. All submissions must be received on or before July 31, 2016.  The online application form can be accessed at: http://bit.ly/myresearchproposal. After logging on, you will be taken to a dashboard page; click on the link “Apply” in the top LH corner to be directed to the 2016 Interdisciplinary Colloquia Program.

Note:  Although renewals of previously-funded colloquia will be considered, applicants must articulate the value added by their colloquia over the past year(s), and respond to additional prompts in the online form to describe any submitted collaborative publications or grants resulting from colloquium participation.

AWARDS NOTIFICATION:  Successful applicants will be informed by Aug. 31, 2016, and will have one year from the start of funding to spend the award.
