Garman selected for AGA Future Leaders Program

Katie Garman, MD, assistant professor of medicine (Gastroenterology), has been selected to participate in the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Future Leaders Program.

Dr. Garman joins 17 other early career gastroenterologists who were selected for this competitive program based on their current achievements, dedication to advancing the field, and potential for future success.

"The AGA's support of scientific research in gastroenterologic diseases advances and disseminates new knowledge that helps ensure the best care for our patients," Garman said. "I am proud to be serving as a AGA Future Leader and I look forward to contributing to the AGA's Mission and bringing new skills and training back home to Duke."

The AGA Future Leaders Program was created in 2015 to identify early career gastroenterologists who have the potential to make a significant impact on the specialty. The program provides a pathway within AGA for selected participants who seek opportunities to support the gastroenterology profession, advance their careers, connect with potential mentors and develop the leadership skills necessary to serve AGA. During this year-long program, participants will receive leadership training and work closely with AGA mentors on projects linked to AGA’s Strategic Plan.
