Hamill appointed associate director of the Medicine Clinical Research Unit

Jennifer Hamill, RN, MSN, will become associate director of the Medicine Clinical Research Unit (CRU), effective March 2, 2020.

Hamill has been with the Duke Heart Center CRU for the past nine years, initially as a clinical research coordinator, then as research practice manager, and most recently as director of research development.

"Jennifer has been instrumental in leading efforts to streamline processes in the Heart Center and across Duke," said Laurie Snyder, MD, medical director of the Medicine CRU.

Hamill has collaborated with both the Duke Office of Clinical Research to standardize hiring in clinical research at Duke and Duke Office of Regulatory Affairs and Quality and Duke University Health System to improve patient access to investigational new drugs (INDs) through an expanded access service program created at Duke.

“I look forward to joining the Medicine CRU and continuing to further clinical research in the Department of Medicine,” said Hamill.

Hamill and Dr. Snyder are part of the implementation team for the Department of Medicine Research Strategic Plan, which highlighted opportunities to strengthen support for clinical research and "position Duke as a leader in conducting site-based research." (See Strategy 4.2.) This will include a strengthening of the coordination among the Medicine, Heart Center, and Duke Cancer Institute CRUs.
