Howard Hughes Medical Institute call for investigator program

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute invites applications to its Investigator Program from scientists who have demonstrated originality and substantial accomplishments in biomedical research and who show exceptional promise for further achievement and leadership in research. The Institute seeks to appoint 20-25 outstanding scientists as HHMI Investigators. This competition is open to basic researchers and physician scientists who study significant biological problems in all biomedical disciplines, including plant biology, as well as adjacent fields such as evolutionary biology, biophysics, chemical biology, biomedical engineering and computational biology.   • PhD and/or MD (or the equivalent)
  • Tenured or tenure-track position as an assistant professor or higher academic rank at an eligible U.S. institution
  • More than 5 but no more than 15 years of post-training, professional experience
  • Principal investigator on one or more active national peer-reviewed research grants with a duration of at least 3 years
