From the Director
This week marks our second week of inpatient and outpatient e-conferences with many thanks to our ACRs (Chris Ferreri, Akash Goyal and Matt McCulloch) and chiefs for putting them together. Lara and the ACRs are also figuring out ways to do e-reports so that we can maintain our learning community while maintaining respectable social distance. Many thanks to all for their efforts and to all for their participation. My computer screen filled with 50 faces is pretty inspiring. Thanks to Dr. G for leading a debrief and to Govind Krishnan for the trial narrative medicine e-session (more to come).
Congratulations to Ahmad Mourad, Cassie Lautredou and Payton Kendsersky for being selected as the 2020-21 ResCo chairs. Next year we will be led by the “ACP”!
Kudos
Kudos this week go to Nathan Hirshman and Matt Harbrecht from Sharon Rubin for great work at Pickett, to Aman Kansal and Lara Wadi from Eric Wei for superb work and compassionate care on Duke Gen Med, to Michael Cosiano and Rachel Tobin for being absolute rockstars on gen med and performing at “JAR” level on Duke Gen Med from Qasim Husseini, and to Danelvis Paredes from Dr. Carey Anders for great work under crazy circumstances on 9300.
Congratulations also to Dennis and SaraLynne Narcisse on the birth of the twins Tripp and Henry and to Stephanie Garbarino and DJ Ferguson on the birth of Feyla Jo!
Welcome to the Duke Family. That’s three new interns in the class of 2047.
PubMed from the Program
This week’s pubmed from the program goes to Jeff Kwock for his article published in Science Advances! PAS services are available free of charge to Duke faculty and staff, and their immediate family members. An appointment to meet with a PAS counselor may be arranged by calling the PAS office at 919-416-1PAS (919-416-1727), Monday through Friday between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. For assistance after hours, residents and fellows can call the Blood and Body Fluid Hotline (115 inside DUH, 919-684-1115 outside) for referral to behavioral health resources. Another resource is Duke Outpatient Psychiatry Referrals at (919) 684-0100 or 1-888-ASK-DUKE. https://www.hr.duke.edu/pas/
