From the Director
Happy FUN-bruary! Thanks to PWIM for kicking of FUN-bruary and National Women Physician’s day with breakfast for faculty and trainees! We have a lot of other fun events and activities planned – look for the FUN-bruary calendar email from Lynsey and pay attention to SLACK for details. Big happenings this week are MENTORING WEEK NOON CONFERENCE, concluding with Thursday night JAR networking with fellowship PDs and Division Chiefs and the Mentor Mixer at noon conference on Friday! Many thanks in advance to Murat Arcasoy for planning a great week. Many thanks also to Dr. Cooney for donating her basketball tickets to the residents for the Duke v. St. John’s game on Saturday!
Kudos
Kudos this week go to John Davy from Cindy Pabon for being an awesome DOC lead, to Carlos Barbery from heme onc fellow Prioty Islam, who let me know how much the patients liked and trusted him on the oncology service, to Cindy Pabon from Dani Zipkin’s patient for being a fantastic doctor, to David Elliott and Kyle Guerink from Joel Boggan for excellent work with a VA patient, to Todd Brophy from future chief Caroline Sloan for going above and beyond to help with an RRT at DRH, to Matt Labriola and Mike Grant from Bryan Golubski for help overnight from the VA ICUs, and to Jon Reichstein also from Bryan Golubski for “JAR-like” work on VA Gen Med. Also kudos to Katie Charles and Wynn Hunter for excellent SAR talks and to Sarah Norton for an awesome Chair’s conference!
PubMed from the Program
This week’s pubmed from the program goes to Matt Labriola and Kristen Batich for their star-studded (former Duke residents!) paper in Clinical Genitourinary Cancer, "Immunotherapy is changing First-line Treatment of Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma." Matthew Labriola, MD; Kristen A Batich, MD, PhD; Jason Zhu, MD; Megan A McNamara, MD; Michael R Harrison, MD; Andrew R Armstrong, MD; Daniel J George, MD; Tian Zhang, MD
Have a great week!

Tips from your fellow resident, Sarah Nelson
Try psychologytoday.com to find a therapist. Use the therapist finder. Put in your zip code in the search box and select your insurance.
From our on site lab and DRH radiology
Stop at front desk to either register (when coming in for lab only visit) or for radiology (on way out from your appt, they need appt for CT etc, can walk into radiology for plain films)
Other news
Dr. Scallia will no longer come to DOC as he leaves Duke on 6/30/19…We can still message him, and Dr. Riley will be here every other month.
Continue to bring us your ideas and thoughts!
Thank you for all you do for the DOC!
Lynn and Co.
