Internal Medicine Residency News, Jan. 6, 2020

From the Director

Welcome back from the holidays. Many thanks for your patient care over the Holiday Block, and a very happy 2020 to all. Thanks to Dr. Cooney and the Department of Medicine for both the Christmas and New Year’s dinners. It's hard to believe that we are in the second half of the academic year.

I am looking forward to an outstanding last month of recruitment, great conferences, the annual Charity Auction, Mentoring Week, and many more events and programming throughout the rest of this year. Lots and lots of thanks to you all for supporting the program's efforts at recruiting a fantastic intern class for next year.

If you have not scheduled a “semi-annual” meeting with Dr. Hargett (SARs) or me (interns and JARs), please email Lynsey to get on our calendar for the next couple weeks. We look forward to talking with you about your goals for the latter part of this year.

SARs, we will be talking about important dates and planning for the second half of SAR year at a SAR-only (and fast-tracking JARs!) noon conference on Tuesday. I will send out the slides afterwards but hope you can be there. Interns and JARs, please let us know if you have any questions about the schedule request forms for next year. Feel free to stop in or email me, an APD, or the chiefs.

Did you know there is a great new podcast? Check out Cardionerds, started by the Cleveland Clinic Cardiology fellows. One episode features Duke alum, Dr. Sneha Vakamudi!  It’s quite good and getting excellent reviews on #medtwitter.
