From the Director

Hi Everyone!

Lots of kudos this week! I love it - thank you all for sending me the great things your colleagues are doing! I hear I missed an outstanding SAR talk from Zach Il'Giovine on Thursday as well as an awesome chair's conference by Manisha Bhattacharya.  Lindsay Shantzer also had an awesome first CAT of the year at the VA. Attendance at noon conference has been fantastic, and we are glad to see everyone there.

Kudos

Kudos this week go to JD Ike from his GenMed SAR Emily Kinsey for making a diagnosis that stumped even the consultants, to Martin Weiss from Duke IM grad/geriatrics fellow Kahli Zietlow for his outstanding patient care on geriatrics consults, to Melodi Whitley from Dr. Neeru Mettu for great communication with primary oncologists on 9300, and to Chris Ferreri from the 9300 nursing team for his communication skills with families and nursing on 9300. Megan Dupuis also sent a shoutout to Melodi Whitley and Chris Ferreri for their hard work and empathetic care on 9300. Kudos to Hari Ramalingam from Tara Spector for his great attitude and help after a busy night on Duke GenMed, to Tsion Aberra for being an amazing intern, killing it on DRH GenMed, and winning the award for most discharges (7 patients!!!!) in a day from Annie Reihman. And kudos to Maggie Moses and Tanya Aylward for being outstanding day floats and to Akash Goyal for being an enthusiastic and compassionate doctor on DRH nights from all the DRH SARs (Annie, Luke, Kevin and Logan), to Becca Lumsden from Jan Dillard for her amazing work as the DOC lead and her teaching in the group diabetes class at the DOC, to Lara Kapp from Dani Zipkin for her strong work at the DOC transferring a very ill patient from the clinic to the MICU, to Megan Dupuis from Jason Zhu for presenting the first case at our inaugural subspecialty intern report, and to ACR Amanda Boyd from Jason Zhu for sending out helpful literature after every report and working extra to help cover our oncology fellows so they can attend a retreat.

PubMed from the Program

This week's pubmed from the program goes to Melodi Whitley and her colleagues for the publication of her article entitled, "Generation and comparison of CRISPR-Cas9 and Cre-mediated genetically engineered mouse models of sarcoma," in Nature Communications.

Seriously can't say enough good things about the enthusiasm and support of each other!

Have a great week!

Aimee

Clinic Corner: Pickett Road

Contributed by Sharon Rubin

We have had positive changes at Pickett Road. We welcomed our new interns to the Pickett Road Family. All interns have their bio's on the DPC website and with the Lead week we can get their videos on line as well as pictures. We welcome our new HCA Derrik Keddington, who is helping to make improvements in the clinics. Due to Dr. Peyser we are increasing our CME opportunities with two speakers a month, the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays. These speakers come and teach about common outpatient dilemmas faced by PCPs. We have the 3rd Tuesday of the month as our MKSAP Tuesday to help keep the faculty updated and ready with MOC. The LEAD weeks have new opportunities for teaching, learning about the DPC administration, being a voice as a resident in the DPC organization.
