Internal Medicine Residency News, July 24, 2017

From the Director

Hi Everyone!

It is great to hear from our SARs about their fellowship and job interviews! We are looking forward to supporting you throughout this process. Mark your calendars for the group interview prep sessions with Kat Pollak and keep your eye out for individual mock interviews with our amazing volunteer faculty.

The Chiefs should have the block 4-6 schedules done early this week, as well, and then we will start on the second part of the year. Please see the emails from Jen regarding your upcoming requests so we can have them for the scheduling meetings.

Kudos

Kudos this week to many! First, to Kelly Ground for an outstanding SAR talk and to Hari Ramalingam for a super chair's conference. Attendance continues to be strong, as well. Also kudos to Becca Lumsden and Ben Ranard for presenting at Grand Rounds and to Shaki Salvador from Jan Dillard for excellent and compassionate care of a very complex patient and to Megan Dupuis from Melodi Whitley and Chris Ferreri for her work as our inaugural Onc teaching resident. Kudos go to Kent Feng from Joel Boggan for going above and beyond for a patient, and to Sean Doerfler from Tara Holder for going above and beyond for VA patient care. And to Saumil Chudgar from Matt Labriola and the academic half day crew for an awesome improv session on communication

Please keep sending along the great things your colleagues do.

PubMed from the Program

This week's pubmed from the program goes to John David Ike for the publication of his article entitled, "Health Literacy and the Arts—An Intersection Worth Exploring." National Academy of Medicine.

Have a great week!

Clinic Corner: PRIME

Contributed by Sonal Patel and Leigh Wynkoop

Hi everyone.  Please take a moment to exchange numbers with your team intern(s). Hopefully your team can arrange a team meeting with your attending at some point.  In addition we have a wall of pictures and interesting facts about our new interns, so please take a moment to check this out.

A lot of exciting changes in PRIME clinic including PRIME clinic LEAD week.  Fellow PRIME residents Landon Brown and Todd Brophy are working on a new PRIME note template so be on the look-out for this.  In addition Maggie Moses has put together a Quality Improvement Project for Cervical Cancer screening that we will discuss with you.  If any of you have any ideas that you would like to implement for your clinic please reach out to myself or Leigh Wynkoop and we can see what we can do.

Looking forward to another great year, as always remember that we are available at any time so please do not hesitate to call or email or drop by with any questions.
