From the Director

Happy July! We had a nice start to the year, including our kickoff noon conferences, reports and pizza rounds, as well as the first Turkey Bowl practice of the year. If you didn’t make it, not a problem. Check out the email from Dr. Galanos detailing the traditions and how to get involved.  Bottom line, while we have had our share of weekend warrior injuries, TB is a longstanding Duke tradition that starts with all-program open practices – all are welcome, come join in!

Listen to the Sounds of the Turkey Bowl podcast from 2017 to hear more about this tradition.

It has been great to see all the teams working together to kick off our academic year.  Everyone seems to be jumping right in to their new roles and really taking great care of patients and their teams. Nice to see strong attendance at noon conference as well!

Fellowship applications drop on July 15, and the upload has begun. Don’t forget to assign your applications, letters, USMLE scores, MSPE AND transcripts to each program. Looking forward to kicking off interview season. If you haven’t signed up for a mock interview with Dr. Kath Pollak, it is highly recommended!

Kudos
Kudos this week go to our new July ACRs, Madhu Eluri, Anish Badjitaya, and Diana Mosquera! Thanks for kicking off the year.  Kudos to Lonnie Sullivan from Eric Black-Maier for outstanding work as the supervising JAR on cards nights, to Trent Wei from Sara Coles for being incredible on his first (very busy) night in the CCU, and to Jared, Caroline, Amanda and Lara for making sure that our new Qualtrics-based SAR talk evaluations are ready for this week! And kudos to Yolanda Guzman for getting a gold star for patient care!
