Congratulations SARs! We had a fantastic time celebrating you on Friday night at the SAR dinner. We cannot thank you enough for your contributions to the #DukeFamily. Many thanks to our JARs who helped cover nights so that everyone had the opportunity to be there. Special thanks to our emcees Todd Brophy and Lindsey Shantzer as well as our “Chief Roasters” Manisha Bhattacharya, Kent Feng, Matt Labriola and Stephanie Garbarino, as well as to Ernest, Lynsey, Tia, Kayla and Emily for helping put together an awesome night, complete with photo booth!
ERAS has opened! I know the fellowship applying rising SARs are busy getting their applications loaded up. Please let Bill Hargett or me know if you have any questions.
We have the CLER (Clinical Learning Environment Review) visit to Duke on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. This is a standard visit for all of GME. Peer selected residents will be meeting with the CLER reviewers. Some may come to rounds during the day at Duke on either Tuesday or Wednesday. Please be sure to engage with them if they do come to your team – they are here to observe work here at the hospital and may ask questions about our various patient care activities.

Kudos
Kudos this week go to Kara Wegermann on her amazing Chief’s Grand Rounds. More kudos to our award winners VA Teaching Award winner Laura Caputo and Greenfield Research Mentoring Award Winner S. Nikki Hastings. More kudos go to Matt Carlisle for an awesome chair’s conference, and to Kent Feng from Gwen Waddell-Schultz (lead of med-surg nursing at the VA ) for excellent care for a very difficult patient on Friday. And kudos to our three amazing AASLD Emerging Liver Scholars – Lauren Donnangelo, Diana Mosquera-Aguirre, and Nancy Yang!
Congratulations to Hannah Dzmictrowicz on her engagement to Jack McMannis and to Lindsey Shantzer on her engagement to Kevin Taylor.

Feeling down? Need to talk to someone? Opportunities for Wellness
All trainees at Duke have FREE access to Personal Assistance Services (PAS), which is the faculty/employee assistance program of Duke University. The staff of licensed professionals offer confidential assessment, short-term counseling, and referrals to help resolve a range of personal, work, and family problems. PAS services are available free of charge to Duke faculty and staff, and their immediate family members. An appointment to meet with a PAS counselor may be arranged by calling the PAS office at 919-416-1PAS (919-416-1727), Monday through Friday between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. For assistance after hours, residents and fellows can call the Blood and Body Fluid Hotline (115 inside DUH, 919-684-1115 outside) for referral to behavioral health resources.
