From the Director
Monday! Busy week for the @IMResidencyDuke – we have two SAR talks (Steve Pappas and Godefroy Chery - schedule and Zoom links below) as well as a Chair’s Conference by Vinay Choksi coming up for the “noon zooms.”
On Friday, Medicine Grand Rounds (at noon) is our IM Residency Research Day featuring Adrian Clark-Randall, Qasim Hussaini and Becca Lumsden as well as 30 virtual posters!.
Kudos
Kudos this week go to Govind Krishnan for a fantastic SAR talk and to Chester Kao for his awesome Chair’s Conference (and Sara Coles for getting the diagnosis). Also kudos to Tim Hopper from Hayley Cunningham for dedicated care to a patient with very great needs, to Felicia Cao and Casey Howe from Madhu Eluri and Saumil Chudgar (who also gives kudos to Madhu) for being outstanding patient advocates, and to Rachel Tobin from the DRH nursing crew for outstanding work and communication.
PubMed from the Program
This week’s pubmed from the program goes to our poster presenters at the upcoming very first virtual poster walk for the IM Residency! Many thanks to our outstanding DOM mentors as well.
Have a great week,
Aimee
Clinic Corner: PRIME
Contributed by Leigh Wynkoop and Sonal Patel
PRIME continues remote telemedicine visits and we appreciate also the residents who are serving as surrogate coverage for VA alerts for those on inpatient rotations at Duke and DRH. Our Veterans have expressed thanks for the phone visits. We have been able to address most needs via phone with a few face-to-face visits arranged at the Hillandale Road site for patients who screen as COVID negative. Stable patients with possible COVID symptoms are being triaged by phone to the VA tent right outside our clinic for COVID testing. We’ve been able to loop in mental health for those whose psychiatric problems are flaring due to the pandemic. We don’t yet have any anticipated timeline for reopening clinics here as there are many decisions above us to be made by the facility. It’s very quiet here and we miss seeing each of our residents.
