Joseph and Kime promoted to Assistant Professor

Congratulations to Drs. Swapna Joseph and Dusty Kime for their promotions to Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine, effective December 1, 2021.

Swapna Joseph, MD

Dr. Joseph worked as a hospitalist at Duke University Hospital before briefly working as a hospitalist and perioperative physician at Duke Regional Hospital. She transitioned to Duke Raleigh Hospital in April 2020 when she was recruited to lead the Pre-Admission clinic as the medical director. In her role as Pre-Admissions Clinic director, she is committed to providing the highest quality of preoperative care for surgical patients. As a hospitalist in the DUHS, she frequently instructs physician assistant students and occasionally resident physicians. Her commitment to Duke Quality Safety has led her to have a pivotal role in the leadership team at Duke Raleigh.

Dusty Kime, MD

Dr. Kime joined the hospitalist program at the Durham VA in July 2018. Dusty is a highly dedicated, competent and valued clinician. He has a strong commitment to patient care, and maintaining his clinical knowledge. In terms of contributions to the medical center, Dr. Kime assisted in the implementation of a multi-disciplinary group with the emergency department with a goal of reducing waste and improving outcomes in the management of high utilizer patients. In this role, he collaborates with providers from various fields to develop comprehensive medical assessments and management outlines for high-utilizer patients.
