Kornbluth: New system for MTAs for materials requested from the NIH

By ajz6@dhe.duke.edu
Sally Kornbluth, PhD, vice dean for basic science, sent the following memo to School of Medicine faculty. Duke’s Office of Corporate Research Collaborations (OCRC) reviews and signs Material Transfer Agreements (MTA) for incoming and outgoing research materials. Through OCRC, Duke will be part of a new NIH program called the Transfer Agreement Dashboard (TAD), a web-based system that will automate much of the processing of MTAs for materials from NIH. When a Duke investigator requests a material, the NIH will use the TAD system to generate an appropriate MTA and route it electronically to the authorized individual at Duke (Curt Bradney, Ph.D., in OCRC) for approval. Once the terms are agreed, TAD will route it to the Duke investigator for approval and then to OCRC for institutional signoff. For your MTA to be routed through TAD, you must first establish a user account within the TAD system. That can either be done now or when you request a material. To register, please send an email to NIHTADSupport@mail.nih.gov requesting a TAD user account. Once a user account is established in your name, you will be able to;
  • Access easy-to-use web forms to help you provide the information necessary to complete an MTA.
  • Access up-to-date information about the status of your MTA, including who to contact if you have questions.
  • Acknowledge and sign agreements using an electronic signature – no need for printed copies.
Further information regarding the TAD website can be found at this link: https://techtransferagreements.nih.gov. Please contact Curt Bradney in OCRC if you have questions about processing of MTA’s at Duke.
